11 May 2026 Malawi 500km Pedal Power Challenge 2026

Cycling for Change

Five cyclists. Five days. 500 kilometres. One incredible journey through the heart of Malawi in support of young people and communities.

The team at gold-youth is in awe of the five cyclists who have worked hard to raise funds and awareness for the gold programme in Malawi. Over the course of five days, the cyclists navigated scorching heat, steep mountain climbs, long distances, dust, exhaustion, and everything in between. But alongside the physical challenge came an unforgettable experience of Malawi’s beauty, people, and spirit.

The route offered extraordinary moments along the way — from the shores of Lake Malawi and sightings of fish eagles, to cave paintings, wildlife, and the stunning scenery that makes Malawi such a special place.

What made the challenge even more meaningful was the opportunity for participants to end their journey at Sam’s Village, where they were able to experience first-hand the programmes and communities their fundraising efforts are helping to support.

The cyclists not only gave their time and energy to prepare for this challenge over many months, but also reached out to friends, family, and colleagues to help raise resources for young people and communities in Malawi.

The impact of this support has been deeply felt by the gold-youth Malawi team.

As shared by the Malawi National Manager:

“We are incredibly grateful for the support, commitment, love, and care shown to the people of Malawi through this sacrificial event. You went the extra mile to reach out to colleagues and friends to raise resources for the people of Malawi, and for this, we are deeply grateful. You have left a mark on young people’s lives.”Maria Moyo – (gold Malawi National Manager)
