As we reflect on gold-youth’s 20-year journey, we are filled with deep gratitude and pride for the profound impact the gold Programme has had on thousands of young lives across Africa.
An African proverb that has fast become our mantra reminds us:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
This belief has shaped gold-youth from the very beginning. We have always focused on people — young people, parents, partners, and communities — united by a shared vision to transform youth education, leadership, and opportunity.
Over the past two decades, 152,000 youth in six countries have discovered the gold within themselves, achieving measurable gains in:
- Education & leadership development
- Purpose-driven living
- Economic independence
Our impact includes 5,400 job connections and the growth of a scalable micro-business movement, clearly demonstrating sustainable transformation in action.
But our success has never been solely rooted in innovative programmes or strategies. Our true strength lies in the deep relationships we have nurtured at every level. From Peer Educators to grassroots organizations, governments, donors, and partners across the globe — every connection has been built with intention, authenticity, and trust.
This is our superpower.
For 20 years, we have built with purpose. Our collaborative network continues to grow because it is grounded in shared values and a collective mission to co-create a new African future. These relationships are not transactional — they are relational, rooted in mutual growth and lasting change.
And this is where our partners matter immensely. Implementing partners, scale-partners, ecosystem partners, funders, Board members, and the entire gold-youth Team — you are an essential part of this journey. Your courage to trust innovation, your faith in bold vision, and your dedication during times of constraint have carried us to this milestone. We celebrate you.
Looking ahead, we commit to nurturing this superpower by continuing to:
- Invest in strong, values-aligned partnerships
- Listen, learn, and adapt together
- Stay grounded in our mission and African identity
Two decades have been our training ground — a time of pruning, resilience, and preparation for continental scale. Two generations have passed through our hands, and countless stories of hope, leadership, and transformation have been born.
As we turn the page to the next chapter, gold-youth remains dedicated to raising young African leaders as global citizens with local roots — leaders who are bridging cultures, driving innovation, and shaping a new legacy of hope for our continent.
