A young man committed to community development and mentoring young people, Lungelo Andries joined gold in 2014 to become a Peer Education trainer. He trained highschool students at Manyano High School in Khayelitsha to become leaders in their communities.
Lungelo believed and embraced the gold vision to see the next generation reach their full potential and be all they can be. He dedicated his life to this vision. He would serve the young people not only during the training sessions but also outside the classroom while the students stood at the school gate and at other public spaces surrounding the school.
On the 7th of August he passed away as a result of a tragic car accident. gold is immensely grieved by Lungelo’s passing. He will be remembered as a leader who selflessly gave of himself and inspired young people to be positive role models.
gold hopes that Lungelo’s family, friends and everyone who knew him will find strength in the fact that he led a life that will not be forgotten as it sought to make a difference in the community.
