With the help of principals, committed and enthusiastic peer educators and past peer educators, CAWO (a GOLD Implementing Organisation in the Western Cape) will be able to host a camp for their peer educators from 8-10 July 2013. ‘In the midst of our financial crisis we wanted to thank our peer educators for their commitment to the program through the years even in difficult times. We had discussions with past and present peer educators, and decided that peer educators will contribute financially to make this camp happen. Some of them spoke to their principals and from one site, a principal donated R5 000,00 because he believed that transformation took place on his school with the learners that were part of the peer education program as well as the peers they have influenced’.
Past peer educators decided that they too want to play a part in this and they will be doing the sessions and all activities on the camp. 80% of peer educators have already paid their contributions and most costs are already paid. We are very excited and know that this camp will be a success because of all the hard work that everybody put in to make it happen!
