Mandela Day-Giving more than 67 minutes

On Mandela Day Celebration, 18 July 2015, GOLD Peer Educators and Facilitator interns did more than their 67 minutes-they gave 2 full days to volunteering alongside The Gift of Joy and Diepsloot Word Centre Church.

The Gift of Joy and Diepsloot Word Centre Church organised a Soup Kitchen and Fun Day for the kids in Dieplsoot.  The Peer Educators and Facilitators helped with preparations for the soup kitchen a day before the main event. They rolled up their sleeves to assist with cooking  1000 litres of soup . On the day of the event 100  volunteers, Peer Educators and  Facilitator interns arrived bright and early to  set up food and  sweets stalls as well  10 jumping castles for  the 3000 kids.

The day was a blissful event of sun and fun for all. The Peer Educators felt grateful for being part of the day and  serving the children of Diepsloot.

GOLD commends the Peer Educators and Facilitator interns  for being servant leaders in their communities.
